We've spent the past two and a half days walking through Bangkok and have only seen a small fraction of the city - it's a really big place! It has been a lot of fun exploring and there's tons of great food available from street vendors so we can nibble noodles as we wander.
The pictures Michael posted today are from Wat Saket and Golden Mount. The view from Golden Mount is extensive; only the dense air pollution prevents you from seeing the entire city. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the temples - especially after all the noise and bustle of the busy streets.
Today we munched on mango pie, nutella ice cream, and a curry or two. The food here is fantastic! We've enjoyed visiting with the local stray dogs who are mostly very friendly.
We arrived in Phuket an hour ago and ran the gauntlet of people trying to sign you up for their tour straight out of the airport. Tomorrow we'll get our plans arranged - we're hoping to set up some dive trips out to the Similan Islands. For future reference though, it is best to make these plans ahead of time especially during the peak season; but no matter because there's plenty of trips available. We'll fill you in as we learn more tomorrow.
Well, my writing is wandering because I'm sleepy. I think I'll wrap this up for now and write more tomorrow. Hope you're all enjoying the New Year!
